I'm puzzled

Post by skippyfx140 » Sun Dec 29, 2013 11:52 pm

I joined this forum on the 22nd of this month and my account was deleted for no reason, I wonder why this was done? so already I
feel alienated as I must have done something wrong but I'll be buggered if I know what.

Cheers Skippy.

Had you made any posts? We've been getting bots registering accounts but not posting so earlier today I cleared down all the accounts zero posts and could have caught yours by accident.

If you had made posts, I'm not sure what happened.

Hi Martin,

Many thanks for the reply, that will be the reason then :) I should have thought about that one as I run a few forums but nothing to do with motor vehicles
in any way shape or form, only radio controlled big boys toys lol

If your having trouble with bots have you thought about using any of the security settings within PHPBB ? I think the capture code type is a bit pant as it
can be hard to read and bots can get around it. I know when you join you are asked to answer a question, but I find setting daft silly questions is a little
bit more affective especially if it is something that can't be found on the tinterweb :)

Right time for bed as I have to go into that funny town called Hull later on this morning :)

ttfn Skippy.
Cheers Skippy.

I do, but they bots have broken CAPTCHA.

Last year we were getting hundred of fake registrations a day.

http://www.hull4x4.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3712

The "Real-time Blackhole List" stopped them but this has been broken by the latest release.

I intend to re-install it asap.

Just had a look through the post in the link and it sounds like the bots had been giving the forum some stick :( One of the model forums that I run use
to get bombarded something rotten but after resetting all the anti spam countermeasures there has only been 2 get through in just over 14 months :)
I set the question up for new members in a strange way and it did the trick, if you want me to let you know what I did I will send you a PM if your
interested?

Right back to the grind catch ya later :)

Ey up Dav.

RC models that I tinker with are mostly 1/12 or 1/14 scales trucks or 1/8 scale rally cross buggies, I do some times do odd ball models like a 6x6x2 truck in 1/14th scale but it is
rather large :) I am currently making a Land Rover 90 variant in 1/10th scale but it's proving to be a bit of a sod to get it right at the moment, I also have a few old school north
sea fishing boats on the go as well and a couple of 3d helicopters somewhere but not flown them in many years.
Cheers Skippy.
